Statement against International Monetary Fund (IMF) austerity

ISER joins five hundred organisations in demanding the International Monetary Fund (IMF) end its push for austerity.
The Covid 19 pandemic has shown how systematic under financing of economic social rights affects the most vulnerable and marginalised. Yet it is unclear that the IMF is moving away from austerity in its COVID-19 response including loan programs with conditionalities and  emergency financing packages that contain language promoting fiscal consolidation in the recovery process.
The statement comes ahead of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings slated to begin 12-18 October.
