As the UN embarks on the third session of its negotiations for the framework convention on tax in Nairobi this week, ISER is demanding an ambitious treaty for the Global South. The current draft “still lacks substance” & fails to stop multinational corporations from draining billions from countries like Uganda—money needed for education, health & social protection. It’s time to tax corporations based on real economic activity i.e. where they are sourcing their incomes. We need a convention with teeth, not an empty shell.
