The Handbook gives a brief overview of Uganda’s land tenure system and the various policies and legal framework concerning modes of acquiring rights and interest in land and the requirements that have to be fulfilled for compulsory acquisition of land by the government. The handbook also briefly reflects on the linkages between property rights and other human rights and the international guidelines around forced evictions. Largely, the handbook focuses on the domestic policy and legal framework. It also provides a brief around key considerations for any form of land transactions.
